How to make a character tier list

Start with a character image template, choose what your ranking measures, and move portraits into tiers. Once you have placed an image, export a PNG of your board or sign in to publish it online.

1. Choose a template and a clear question

Open the template library and choose the collection you want to rank. Each template page shows its supplied portraits before you enter the editor. For example, you can start with Project SEKAI or Ensemble Stars.

Pick one question for the board: your favorite character designs, the stories you enjoyed, or your personal overall favorites. Put the criteria in the board title so another person can understand your choices.

2. Place portraits into tiers

Choose Start ranking on the template page. On desktop, drag a portrait from the character pool into a tier. Move it between tiers or change its order within a row until the board matches your opinion.

On mobile, tap a portrait to select it, then tap the tier where you want to place it. Use the character search and the pool's Previous and Next controls to find portraits in larger templates.

You can leave undecided characters in the pool. Use Undo if you want to reverse a recent change.

3. Make the tiers your own

The starting rows are S, A, B, C, and D. Open a row's tier settings to change its name or color, and use the available controls to add, remove, or reorder rows. Labels such as “Favorites”, “Like”, and “Still deciding” may communicate your criteria more clearly than letters.

Read the tier letters guide for a simple way to choose consistent criteria.

4. Export a PNG or publish your board

After you place at least one portrait, choose Export image to download your ranking as a PNG. You can share that file in a group chat or community. Using supplied template images and exporting do not require an account.

Sign in to publish a board online and show it on your profile. Uploading your own images also requires an account. Publishing your board creates your own version; it does not replace the public template you started from.
